It's All About People

Today, one of our software engineers achieved an important personal goal with the help of the company and the personal inspiration of some fellow Joyeurs.

The details aren't really important. What's important is that a Joyeur turned a dream into reality, and I'm proud of him. I'm the person who nagged him most often during the last few years (though probably less than his mom). After all, we've been working together for that long and, you know, I'm "El Capitán," that's part of my job!

So it's a happy day! One of those days I realize how much I like to be part of this company.

You've probably noticed that a notable number of new software engineers have joined our team recently, and might be wondering why we've become a place that attracts such smart, talented people. I think I've got the answer to that question.

It's not really about the fact that "I love this node shit" is the newest mantra in the engineering chat channel. It's all about people.

To us it's really, really clear that we have an awesome challenge to build something great together. The always complicated process of organizing a growing team is actually proving painfully simple. I'm absolutely amazed and, of course, I've spent some hours considering the possible reasons of such success; you know, when things are running smoothly, you have to take note of everything and try to repeat.

And, you know what? I think the key is that we're really conscious how awesome it is to be working at a place where people really care about people, no matter what their GPS coordinates!

So if you want to work for a company where people matter and we're really respectful of everybody's ideas, you might want to consider Joyent.

There, I've said it!
