How to Play Along with Node.js Camp at Home

If you've been following Joyent on Twitter, you'll know that we're doing everything we can to help everyone participate in Node.js Camp even if you couldn't make a meatware connection. Here's our guide to getting the most out of the event whether near or far!

To start, if you haven't already finished your homework, it's time to get cramming. It's really just four steps to get up and running and ready for all the fun. Even if you just get Node.js installed on your 'puter out of all this, you're making progress.

For everything Node.js Camp related, we've been using #nodecamp -- and hope you will, too. And not just on Twitter. Feel free to liberally season blog posts, Flickr photos, YouTube videos and anything and everything else with that hashtag!

Folks at the event will have to rely on a Web client for IRC thanks to some port restrictions at the venue, but you can use the client of your choice from everywhere else. Everyone will be hanging out on the #node.js channel on irc.freenode.net.

We have successfully tested our live audio and video stream. Due to the aforementioned IRC port issues, Ustream chat won't be working on site, so hit us up on Freenode or Twitter. If you have any questions about who's at the podium, or when you might want to tune in, check the agenda.

And don't worry, even if technical difficulties arise or you can't catch it live, we'll be working to preserve everything for posterity with audio, video and screen capture recordings which we intend to publish in 1080p just as fast as our 12-core Mac Pro and the feeble monkey who operates it can edit, render, transcode and upload it all.

Anything we missed? Let us know!
